During the core curriculum modules we will explore yoga as a healing art, learn therapeutic sequences for common joint and health problems including yoga for back pain, scoliosis, MS and other concerns. We clarify the language of teaching, learn to develop class themes and deepen our understanding of the anatomy and physiology of yoga.
Choose Lighten Up Yoga as one of your two Yoga Alliance registered schools and attend two weekends a year to successfully complete your six 500 hr core curriculum modules. Immerse yourself in yoga and utilize Lillah's clear and expert guidance to bring your practice and teaching experience to the next level.
Open to both Intermediate students and evolving yoga teachers. You may select and attend individual weekend modules without enrolling in the full 500 hr course.
World-Class Instruction
Lillah Schwartz, Certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor, E- R.Y.T. and senior student of the Yogic Arts, is the founder and director of Lighten Up Yoga's In Depth Yoga Studies Program. She has been training yoga teachers since 1984. During our 500-Hour Program, Lillah will help you evaluate your progress as a teacher, and learn the skills necessary to be truly effective in helping your students gain radiant health with yoga. The importance of developing safe / progressive back bending sequences. Yoga for MS and other disabilities (in co-operation with the Southeast chapter of the National MS Society). Intermediate Practice, Pranayama, peer teaching. The Yamas and Niyamas in our teaching practice.

Association. To become a certified Iyengar Teacher requires years of

Are 20-Hour Core Curriculum Modules Right For You?
To enroll in one or more Core Curriculum Weekend Modules, we ask that you have a yoga teaching practice and/or a consistent personal yoga practice. You may join this program if you are an intermediate yoga student or if you hold a 200+ hour Yoga Alliance registration and are working toward your 500-hour registration. You may also select and attend individual weekends without enrolling in the full 500 hr course.

When you enroll as a 500-Hour student, you receive the tools and
personal attention necessary to custom design your training program.
Additional weekends recommended from our 200-Hour course will be
applicable toward your 500-Hour core curriculum hours with Yoga Alliance
including:
March 14 - 16, 2008 - Sequencing: Actions of the Limbs.
April 25 - May 2, 2008 - Primary Pose Actions
June 6 - 8, 2008 - Language of Teaching
July 11 - 13, 2008 - Adjusting and Adapting Poses
Enrollment
Once you have chosen Lighten
Up as one of your two* Yoga Alliance registered schools, you are
expected to attend six weekends to
successfully complete your 500-hour core curriculum studies. A $250
payment for each weekend is due 30 days in advance to allow for adequate
planning and homework assignments. Lifestyle participants may enroll in
one or more core curriculum modules.
*Please note that Yoga Alliance will accept only two training schools
toward your 500-Hour registration. Your 200-hour school counts as one.

Core Curriculum Weekend Modules
20-Hour Core Curriculum Modules are offered at Lighten Up Yoga two times
each year. This means you can complete the 120-Hour requirement in three years.
Each weekend session includes verification of all subject
categories required by Yoga Alliance.

Lighten Up Yoga or through seminars at other locations with
